About East Middle School


 The mission of DeSoto East Middle School is to achieve academic and social excellence through knowledge, respect, and responsibility.

DeSoto East Middle School (formerly DeSoto Junior High School) is part of the DeSoto Independent School district.  The campus, now known as DeSoto East Middle School, opened in 1962.  It served as the district's high school from 1962 until 1976 when the high school moved to its current location at 600 Eagle Drive. At that time the campus was renamed DeSoto Junior High School and served grades seven and eight.  When DeSoto West Junior High School opened in 1987, the campus was renamed DeSoto East Junior High School.  As part of the district-wide grade realignment plan during the 2007-2008 school year, DeSoto East became a middle school serving grades six, seven, and eight.

Coronovirus update 
closure

SCHOOL CLOSURE & SERVICES UPDATE

To slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our community, all DeSoto ISD schools will close indefinitely. This action follows advice from the Dallas County Health and Human Services department (DCHHS). We recognize the significant impact this extended closure will have on the entire community, especially for families who depend on the district for critical services. While our classrooms are empty, our work on behalf of children continues. We have activated at-home learning, our teachers are prepared to begin distance instruction, and Chartwells, DeSoto ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services provider, will distribute meals at select campus locations. These sites will become central locations for family and student resource distribution in the coming weeks. Distance Learning 

Distance Learning Plan (March 30 - April 3 )

Hi DeSoto ISD Eagles! You’ve been patiently awaiting news about long-term plan for distance learning for this semester while you have worked HARD on your week 1 and week 2 distance learning assignments! We’ve got a stellar plan to meet the needs of our students with tech and tech-free assignments, flexible instructional methods to allow students, families, and district employees the flexibility to adjust to life in response to a global pandemic, and a plan that ensures access to high-quality learning for students!

Students, we have posted learning plans for the week of March 30, 2020. Find the plans at our DeSoto ISD Distance Learning website. (www.DeSotoISD.org/DistanceLearning) Students and families with questions should contact their child’s teachers directly.

  • DEVICES: If you need a device, please contact your campus principal. 

  • TECH SUPPORT: If you are having difficulty with accessing the necessary technology, DeSoto ISD will have tech support available during regular business hours (8am - 5pm). Please email (1) a brief description of the issue and (2) your name and phone number to helpdesk@desotoisd.org and we will try to help you rectify your issue quickly.
 Internet Access
 If you DO NOT have internet access, qualifying families can get free internet services from Spectrum or Comcast.

  • Spectrum Free WiFi (60 days free): Call 1-844-488-8395 to enroll. For the full directions and information, click here.

  • Comcast Free WiFi (60 days free): Apply online on the Comcast Website here for access to the Internet Essentials plans.

  • If you are unable to receive the free services listed above and do not have access to the internet, please contact your campus principal to discuss the tech-free instructional options.

 GOOGLE ACCOUNT ACCESS: Students will need to have access to their google accounts and emails. Most students have the following set-up for their Google accounts. If a student has issues, they should email helpdesk@desotoisd.org.

  • Email address: firstname.lastname@desotoisd.net

  • Password: First initial (capitalized), Second initial (lowercase), Student ID number, exclamation mark (i.e. Ab12345!)
