About East Middle School

The mission of DeSoto East Middle School is to achieve academic and social excellence through knowledge, respect, and responsibility.

DeSoto East Middle School (formerly DeSoto Junior High School) is part of the DeSoto Independent School district.  The campus, now known as DeSoto East Middle School, opened in 1962.  It served as the district's high school from 1962 until 1976 when the high school moved to its current location at 600 Eagle Drive. At that time the campus was renamed DeSoto Junior High School and served grades seven and eight.  When DeSoto West Junior High School opened in 1987, the campus was renamed DeSoto East Junior High School.  As part of the district-wide grade realignment plan during the 2007-2008 school year, DeSoto East became a middle school serving grades six, seven, and eight.

DeSoto ISD Parents,

Wow, what a year! With the drastic shift required as a result of COVID-19, DeSoto ISD thanks you for your dedication and contribution as we have worked to provide continued learning for our students. As the 2019-2020 school year has come to a close, final grades have been posted and are available to view via Parent Portal. (If a printed report card is required, please contact a campus administrator for assistance.)

If a student received an Incomplete (or I), it indicates that the student did not complete the Culminating Performance Assessment (CPA) project for one or more of the four content areas and/or did not demonstrate proficiency of content for the term; therefore, the student does not earn credit for the term if enrolled in high school classes (including Algebra 1 in 8th grade). For students who receive an Incomplete, will need to submit the Culminating Performance Assessment by August 7th. CPAs can be found at www.desotoisd.org/summerlearning under Extension of Anytime, Anywhere Learning.

As an extension of the Anytime, Anywhere Learning, the Curriculum Department presents self-paced summer learning activities for PK-12 that are designed to enhance background knowledge in a fun and informal way. The activities are optional and will not be submitted for grading. Please visit www.desotoisd.org/summerlearning to access extension materials.

Stay safe & have a great summer break!
