Over the past month we have seen a high number of flu cases in the north Texas area. It comes as no surprise that this trend is continuing within our schools. Please pay close attention to best practices for preventing the spread of disease, like the flu. These practices include the following:
  • Wash Your Hands - proper hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of disease. Hand sanitizers are great for when you don't have quick access to soap and water, but they are not an equal substitute. Some of the most important time to use good hand hygiene is before and after eating.
  • Clean Common Surfaces - Many diseases can easily be contracted through touching a contaminated surface. Please try to clean off desk surfaces, door knobs, expo markers, etc. frequently throughout the day.
  • Stay Home When Sick - Please do not come to school until you have been symptom (vomiting, diarrhea, or fever) free for at least 24 hours WITHOUT the use of medication.
You can visit the following link for further information on flu-like illnesses: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/index.htm

Finally, if your student does become ill with flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, body-aches, chills), please let Ms. Smith in the attendance office or myself know what symptoms your student has.
